“Titanic” was supposed to end differently. They filmed this scene, but the audience did not see it in theaters

As viewers remember, after the dramatic scenes in which the Titanic sinks, Jack freezes to death in the water, it turns out that Rose had a necklace with the Heart of the Ocean in the pocket of the coat in which she was rescued. The cinemas showed how the heroine, already played by Gloria Stuart, leaves her cabin on the treasure hunter’s ship, stands on the railings by the side, looks into the water, and then throws the necklace that Brock Lovett (Bill Paxton) has been searching for so persistently into the ocean. In the next shot, we see Rose falling asleep in bed and dreaming of meeting her lover, or dying in her sleep. That’s how one can interpret the scene where Kate Winslet climbs the Titanic’s luxurious staircase, Jack shakes her hand, the ship’s crew cheers as they kiss, and the ornate clock shows the hour of the luxury liner’s sinking.

James Cameron originally planned to show it a little differently. The film crew even shot a scripted sequence. In this version, Rose’s granddaughter (Suzy Amis) is also on board the ship at the same time as she talks a little further with Lovett. They both see Rose climbing the railing and are convinced that she wants to jump overboard to join her lost lover. They run towards her to rescue her and she warns them not to come near.

He then shows Brock that he has the Heart of the Ocean necklace with him. She lets him touch it for a moment, then throws it into the water. Lovett is initially horrified, then bursts into hysterical laughter as the camera zooms in on his face. Why didn’t James Cameron use the footage he shot? – When Jim was designing the film, he assumed that when making a historical film, he had to include something in it that would allow the modern viewer to somehow identify with it, something that would appeal to him. A love story is something timeless, but apart from that, he decided to add a modern context and a thread that takes place in the present. Thanks to him, the story can go back in time – he explained.

We were there to give the rocket something to stand on, but once it’s launched, the gantry falls off and is no longer needed. This scene was supposed to be a way to close Rose’s old story, but at this point the viewer doesn’t need anything from our characters anymore. At this stage, our work was already done, which became very obvious during assembly. If you’re smart and can turn off your ego and let go of your narcissism, you’ll be able to listen to a movie. The film will tell you what it needs and what it doesn’t need, but this child needs tough love. Bill Paxton died on February 25, 2017 at the age of 61. The actor had an aortic aneurysm and underwent surgery for it. The family told the media that the cause of death was postoperative complications.
