This is how this year’s holidays of Poles look like. Either as cheap as possible or exclusive

Either exclusive or not at all – this term, accompanied by a certain amount of exaggeration, could be used to describe this year’s holidays of Poles. It turns out that, taking into account previous years, this tourist season we are dealing with a certain disturbing trend.

– Over the last year, I was slightly surprised to see that there is not even a slight reduction in interest, and Poles accept the increase in the prices of the trips I deal with, i.e. exotic, distant, expensive – says Krzysztof Matys, a traveler and owner of the original travel agency Travel with Onet. And on the other side of the barricade: Polish tourists who go to the seaside with their own jars and provisions for a few or several days.

The interest in luxury trips is not waning

Rampant inflation, the effects of which were felt not only in Poland but also in other countries, led to a significant increase in prices. Not only groceries and everyday items are becoming more expensive, but also services, which tourists planning this year’s holidays have probably found out. Nevertheless, as Krzysztof Matys revealed in an interview with Onet, the interest in luxury trips to distant countries is not weakening.

Most often, these are trips to Georgia, Armenia or the countries of Central Asia. It is worth noting that air tickets on these routes are also not the cheapest. – To Tashkent, Uzbekistan on a group fare they cost 2.8-3 thousand. PLN per ticket. Suddenly they rose to a price between 4 and 5 thousand. zloty. Similar to Tbilisi in Georgia: 1.5 thousand each. PLN, and currently 2.2-2.4 thousand. zlotys (…) – Onet.

From extreme to extreme. “The middle class is disappearing”

It seems that this year’s holiday trend in the tourism industry is to divide vacationers into two groups. On the one hand, there are people who buy exclusive trips to distant countries, on the other – tourists who look for savings every step of the way, and come to the Baltic Sea with their own jars and provisions for a few or several days, because food prices are so high.

It is therefore hard not to notice that this year’s trends in the forms of traveling have changed significantly compared to previous years. – Customers mostly choose the cheapest or very expensive countries and exclusive. There are two groups of tourists. There is no remedy. In my opinion, the middle middle class, which used to travel to 3 or 4 star hotels, is disappearing – points out Lech Pilecki, the owner of the “New York” travel agency quoted by Onet. When it comes to the mentioned cheapest countries, the most common choice of Poles is invariably Turkey, Bulgaria, Albania, Tunisia and Egypt.
