The Rise and Fall of the French Emperor and Military Leader, Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) comes to the silver screen next November 22, in the context of Thanksgivingof Joaquin Phoenix as the protagonist.

Directed by Scott from a screenplay by David Scarpa, Napoleon marks the actor’s reunion with the director of Gladiator (2000), where Phoenix embodied Emperor Comodo, who confronted the hero directly, Maximum (Russell Crowe).

Napoleon it’s a look original and personal to the character’s origins and his rapid and relentless rise to become emperor, seen through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Josephine (Vanessa Kirby).

The film further captures the famous battles, the ruthless ambition and amazing strategic mind of Napoleon as an extraordinary military leader and visionary of war.

“Napoleon is a man who has always fascinated me”, Scott said months ago deadline. “He came from nothing to rule everything, but meanwhile he was in a romantic war with wife Joséphine. He conquered the world to try to win her love, and when he failed, he conquered the world to destroy it, destroying himself in the process.”

The film is an original production of Apple Studios and will also be available on the platform of after its world premiere stream AppleTV.

“No actor can embody Napoleon as well as Joaquín”, Scott specified. “He created one of the most complex emperors in the history of cinema Gladiator and we will make another one with his Napoleon. It’s a brilliantly written script by David Scarpa and today there’s no better partner than Apple to bring a story like this to a global audience.”
