The survivor’s pension, commonly known as the spouse’s pension, is payable to the family of the deceased. It can be worn not only by spouses, but also by children, parents, grandchildren and siblings. Its amount varies depending on the number of people who collect it. A widow who wants to use it he must not only give up his benefit, but also fulfill it, among others be over 50 or completely incapable of work or bring up a child under 16 who is entitled to receive it. The benefit is paid monthly and is subject to indexation. From March 1, 2023, the minimum amount is PLN 1,588.44 gross.
What is a widow’s pension? The draft law provides for double benefits for widows
A more favorable solution is to be a widow’s pension. The project assumes that after the death of a spouse, he can decide whether he wants to:
- keep your benefit in full and charge an additional 50% survivor’s pension after the deceased husband or
- receive their benefit in the amount of 50%, plus the survivor’s pension in the full amount.
What is important, the amount of the widow’s pension is to be limited to a maximum of three times the average old-age pension, i.e. currently it could not exceed PLN 7,600. It will also be available to those insured in KRUS and uniformed pensioners.
At what stage is the widow’s pension 2023? On July 6, the first reading took place
Originally, the project was stuck in the parliamentary freezer, so in April Lewica together with OPZZ and other social organizations has collected more than 200,000 signatures. Thanks to this, it could be discussed, and on July 6, the first reading took place. Then it was referred to the Parliamentary Social Policy and Family Committee, where it is to be clarified.
