El Spot, a year dedicated to the recognition and support of the artists who take to the stage
How did the concept of this show come about?
It is a show which I’ve been thinking about for almost a year and a half, and I had a folder of ideas about the songs, how it should look on stage… Soul is the genre I love and feel the most of course, and I want to pay tribute to a genre that has given me so much beauty and also helped me grow as an artist. And I’m glad I was able to make it happen.

And how was your soul connection born?
My father listens to music a lot, but not only soul, but also salsa, merengue, punk, stone, everything. But at the age of 16 I started taking singing lessons and at that time I heard with different ears. I will always love you, by Whitney Houston, and I decided I wanted to sing like them. Obviously I became obsessed. Singing is imitation at first, but I think all those experiences and artists have given me this voice color that I have now. Then I switched to Jennifer Hudson, and I always loved disco music and that’s how I got into the genre and its subgenres.
What repertoire have you prepared for that evening?
It was difficult and easy to choose. Because I’ve been singing the genre for so long, I have a lot of options, an extensive list of songs, but I had to narrow it down to a show 90 minutes, more or less. But the selection has thought of the audience and not just so that they sit down to applaud, but I want them to live an experience. I can name Gloria Gaynor, Michael Jackson, Donna Summer, Bee-Gees… The best of the best will sound on this show.

Who will accompany you on stage?
There will be a live band, a quintet with me, piano, bass, drums, guitar, keyboards and a guest saxophonist.
You were also recently part of a musical at the Teatro Sánchez Aguilar. How was that experience?
I get the willies! It was one of the most incredible experiences of my career. I got the chance to sing Tina Turner and it was unforgettable because it was a staging where we were all a team. Returning to musical theater and the reception of the people has been exciting.
Are you also working on new original music?
my last song was One second, which was released on digital platforms; it was a pop soul ballad. But right now I’m not going to the studio. I’m focusing on this for now showSomething I should have done long ago.
So what can those who go to watch the expect show?
Soul is one of the few genres that, even if you listen to a song without lyrics, for example, music has so much soul, it’s so visceral, it’s impossible that something won’t move you. And the same with disco music, that’s another version cool and movement of that genre and then the invitation is for you to relive those moments from the seventies with me.
