Róża and Józefa were born on January 20, 1878 in Skrejchov, Czech Republic. They were born as indissoluble twins, also known as conjoined twins. Róża and Józefa were fused at the sacrum and coccyx in such a way that their backs were always turned to each other. This is an extremely rare developmental defect, consisting in the occurrence of an unusual connection between parts of the body belonging to the identical. The incidence of the defect is estimated at 1:100,000 births.

The Blažek sisters aroused special interest. They were fused at the hips
The girls grew up healthy and active, moving around with ease. Fearing ridicule, however, the family did not allow them to go to school. Rose turned out to be the stronger sister. She was able to choose a direction and leave Josepha with no choice but to follow her backwards. Rose’s control was so strong that she could only think of walking, and Józefa would take the first step. It also happened that they used three legs, e.g. when going down or climbing stairs.
In 1891, Róża and Józefa began their lives at exhibitions in Paris and London, where they quickly gained fame and presented their dance and music talents. They were called Czech twins. At the age of 15, they went to the United States to m. to appear at the Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. They went on tour as “Bohemia Twins”.

When the sisters returned to Europe, one of them (Róża) fell in love with a German officer, which caused a dispute between the sisters. When Rose revealed she was pregnant, the controversy spread like wildfire and ignited their fame even more. To the public, the idea of such a union was staggering. The newspapers were filled with articles lined with gossip. Róża claimed that she had only been in an intimate relationship once and refused to give her father’s name.
Franz Blažek was born on April 16, 1910. He was a healthy baby and the birth was considered successful. Interestingly, each of the sisters had not only different tastes and completely different characters, but also their own genital internal organs, which also concerned the uterus, which is why such a situation was possible. So only Rose was the mother of the child. When Franz grew up, he joined the twins’ traveling show as “the son of two mothers”. Józefa Blažek died on March 30, 1922. Rose left twelve minutes later.
