Eska.pl informs about the whole case and writes that the fruit farmer near Bydgoszcz has been inviting people willing to pick cherries for three years, even several times cheaper than in stores. There will probably be enough fruit for everyone – the branches bend from their excess to such an extent that you can pick cherries lying down.
It’s not just about money
– I could get a bit more in wholesale, but it’s not just about money – says Mr. Marek Gratkowski, an orchard farmer from Gogolin with Eska. It turns out that he has nearly 600 fruit trees in his orchard. “A choice of color” – one might say; people willing to harvest will find cherries of various varieties here. – I want people to see what an orchard looks like, feel its atmosphere, find out what it’s like to pick the fruit yourself. When someone comes, I always start by showing people around the orchard – says Marek in an interview with Eska.
The planter also recalls showing people around his orchard; everyone can taste the fruit straight from the tree, ask about the best variety and admire the fairy-tale surroundings of nature. – For townspeople, such an orchard training is a great fun. They come with children, they lie under the trees and pick cherries because the branches are so covered with fruit that they bend a lot – adds Marek.
Cherry harvest near Bydgoszcz – the most important information
Mr. Marek notices that the interest in self-harvesting fruit has been growing over the last three years. Therefore, the fruit grower decided to specify some of the most important information and rules for volunteers:
- Marek’s orchard can be visited every day this season,
- On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays you have to be able to pick up by 10:00. 17. On the other days it rises from morning to evening,
- There are no limits on harvested fruit,
- Price: PLN 10 per kg. For comparison: in shops and bazaars we will pay from PLN 18 to even PLN 30 per kilogram.
