Health properties of oak. Infusions, compresses and walks
The Slavs worshiped the oak and considered it a symbol of immortality. They believed that it was enough to lean against a tree to cure back pain. They also prepared poultices and decoctions from its bark, which helped with skin inflammations and disinfected wounds. Infusions prepared from twigs, leaves and oak bark regulated the work of the intestines, relieved constipation, diarrhea and abdominal pain. A few drops of oak extract were also added to the bath. To this day, walking among the oaks is recommended for stressed, tired and mentally weak people. The mere presence of trees around and their scent gives strength, restores vitality and good mood.
Oak symbolism. It was considered a magic tree
It used to be believed that oak not only heals, but also protects against and brings good luck. Forest deities and forest spirits were said to live in its trunks. Rituals and prayers were performed around the tree. People hung acorns in the windows to protect the building from lightning during a thunderstorm. Every year, on December 31, an oak branch should be brought to the house, which was supposed to guarantee happiness and prosperity to all household members.
