soon will show the first series made together with Jakub Żulczyk based on his book. The main role was played by Arkadiusz Jakubik, who claims that the script of the production drew him in so much that he read it in one sitting. The premiere on the platform is coming soon, and it has already been announced that this is not the end of cooperation between the global streaming giant and the Polish writer.
Duda is unlikely to see this. Netflix Will Make ‘Hill of Dogs’ Series
Piotr Domalewski will be responsible for directing the series. He, together with Jakub Żulczyk, also wrote the screenplay for “Wzgórza Dogs”. As a producer, they will be supported by Izabela Łopuch, who previously made the well-received production of “Blind from the Lights” in the same role – also a film adaptation of the book by the same writer.
– “Hill of Dogs” is a book about the world I come from. About the fears and hopes that I faced myself for many years. For several years, readers have been asking about its adaptation to the screen. The fact that they will finally get it just makes me happy – Żulczyk comments on the announcement.
And Domalewski emphasizes: – When I read ‘The Hill of Dogs’ I thought that I know these people and this world. When I met Kuba, I understood that now we will tell everyone about where we grew up. Working on the script was a great adventure and I am very happy that this series will be created, because we all know places like Zybork – he assures.
Netflix Announces ‘Hill of Dogs’ Adaptation Netflix / Promotional Materials
In a nutshell, “Wzgórze Dogs” shows how disastrous the political transformation was in Poland. The eponymous “dog’s life” is led by the victims of Polish capitalism: the inhabitants of a small town that has been ruined by privatization. All that was left of the state-owned farm, which provided livelihood for many people, was a disintegrating block of flats. To make matters worse, corrupt officials simply want to demolish them without looking at the residents, because they want to build a luxury resort in the same place. The novel has exactly 864 pages and the estimated reading time is about 14.5 hours. Is it worth waiting for the screening? Absolutely – an editorial friend told me that she stayed up all night for this novel and finished “Wzgórze” in less than 24 hours.
