How to protect funkies from snails? Use copper foil
An interesting method that will protect funkies from attack is to protect the plant with strips of copper foil. It is possible that due to the reaction of the snail slime with copper, the mollusks stay away from it. Another method is to create a mulch of rough material around the hosta, such as gravel, crushed eggshells, pine needles or broken shells. The barrier should be tight, and thanks to it, no snail will slip through to the plant.
What repels snails? Use natural ways
On TikTok @tinykebun some time ago a video was published with natural tricks to get rid of snails from the garden. The author of the recording recommended three proven ways. One of them is the mulch mentioned earlier, but the other two will also help.
- Prepare a scent trap. Tiktokerka encourages the use of beer, but it is worth using a more humane method. It turns out that you can successfully use apple peels and lettuce leaves, cabbage and carrots. When the mollusks enter the food container, take them to a meadow away from the garden.
- Apply odors and products that are unpleasant for snails. Coffee extract, sprinkling the garden with Epsom salt and garlic extract will work.
