Where did the “Czech film” come from? “No one knows anything” literally

This saying has its roots in the production from the 1940s. “Nikdo nic nevi”, or “Nobody knows anything”, directed by Josef Mach, enjoyed considerable popularity after the war, although today it belongs to the group of forgotten films. The comedy tells the story of two tram drivers from Prague who try to help their neighbor get rid of a drunken SS man who is blackmailing her. “Czech film” thus means a situation in which “nobody knows anything.”

The statement that “no one knows anything” also referred to other Czech productions, often not fully understood by Polish viewers. it was very popular, but it happened that it caused a lot of problems for the viewers.
