Low and growing costs of living mean that many seniors in Poland struggle with financial difficulties. Some of them, due to health reasons or old age, are also unable to prepare a hot meal on their own on a regular basis. Free lunches for seniors. 550 seniors will benefit, but this is only the beginning
Several hundred out of five cities in Poland can take advantage of free meals. is a program organized by the Biedronka Foundation. As part of the initiative, hot lunches are provided to seniors for two days. The action started in May 2023 and will last five months. 550 seniors who meet the age (over 70) and income criteria will receive meals as part of the “Linner Mail”. Although the qualification has already been completed, a the initiative is active only in Łódź, Kielce, Radom, Nowy Sącz and Białystok, the Biedronka Foundation points out that it is a pilot program for now.

“” is a government program which subsidizes meals both for the elderly and the disabled who meet the conditions for receiving assistance indicated in the social assistance, as well as for children. With funds from the state budget and local governments, lunches are provided in school canteens, meals are also delivered to the homes of the elderly and disabled. You must meet the income criteria to qualify for the program. Monthly income cannot exceed:
- PLN 1,522 for a single person,
- PLN 1,200 for a person in the family.
