Nutrition expert Tim Spector has revealed that we should actually eat breakfast after 11am, not right after waking up. All in order to maintain the fourteen-hour fasting period. This issue may be of particular interest to people who want to get rid of a few. During the Cheltenham Science Festival, he is quoted as explaining:

Waiting a few hours before eating anything after waking up is better for staying healthy and losing weight.

According to a British professor, this is mainly because people eat dinner later than previous generations. Many people’s last meal is often not until 9:00 p.m. So, instead of having breakfast as soon as you wake up, Spector advises you to wait until 11:00. What’s more, it suggests that there is growing evidence that such action has a beneficial effect on our metabolism. He also adds that if we stick to this rule for several months, we are able to lose between two and five kilograms.

What can hunter-gatherers teach us? The conclusions may surprise you

The conclusions drawn by the professor are based on his earlier research. The group of subjects were members of the Hadza tribe, who are modern hunter-gatherers in East Africa and live in Tanzania. The conclusions turned out to be surprising for the professor. Among the members of the tribe, diseases such as type 2 diabetes are practically non-existent. Spector sees a correlation with the time of their breakfast, which the subjects ate between 10:30 and 11:00.
