This was announced by the mayor of Barranquilla, Jaime Pumarejo, announcing that the artist will have a new sculpture so that her millions of fans will continue to admire her talent and philanthropic nature with which she shows her love for those who need help the most.
“As a sign of gratitude to Shakira, the owner of the Pies Descalzos Foundation, we will unveil the statue of Yin Márquez, so that Barranquillas and the whole world come to Barranquilla to take pictures in the statue… Let them know where he came from where he was born.”
The piece will be a tribute to the artist and a way to honor her legacy in her hometown, while promoting tourism in the region.
