International Festival of Living Arts closed with the news of the United States as guest country

In national plays, the Teatro Quimera and Teatro Duende closed this Festival with a flourish with their presentation ‘Chronicles of a traveling umbrella’.

With a delay of 45 minutes, the closing event of the VI edition of the International Festival of Living Arts in Store. By 19:00, the Benjamín Carrión National Theater, which was the stage that received the national and local authorities on this gala night, looked full in its exteriors and lobby.

A batucada with at least four members received the rest of the attendees, who had problems entering from the lobby to the stage, because in principle there was a choice for admission, without any explanation; even representatives of some press media were prevented from entering, with the exception of the members of the official production company in charge of documenting the event in audio, video and photography. The same happened with public officials and the private public.

Later, officials from the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Loja came to explain briefly that “there was a delay” and therefore people were being allowed to enter little by little.

And, indeed, it was 7:15 p.m. and the stage curtain was just closing so that the people who were already inside could not see the final rehearsal.

The official television broadcast on the municipality’s channel had to improvise fillers until the act began.

The assistants after 40 minutes began to applaud as a sign of anger at his wait. The diplomatic corps of Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and the United States had to wait.

Finally, at 7:46 p.m. the long-awaited event started.

The consul of the United States, Brian Quigley, He began the event by highlighting his Government’s support for freedom of the press through art.

To local, national and international artists I want to say: Thank you for sharing your art with us.. I am happy to celebrate the artists, dreamers and innovators who have helped us heal the aftermath of the pandemic.”, He said and added his satisfaction for having visited the city of Loja for the first time, and offered his country’s participation in the next edition.

For his part, the mayor Jorge Bailón highlighted the economic reactivation that has occurred with this event.

Maria Elena Machuca, Minister of Culture, showed her gratitude to all the Lojans, all the people who from their different trades made the festival their own. Gratitude to the hundreds of artists who painted magic (…). Reaching new places, such as hospitals, nursing homes, detention centers, was possible”, He said and highlighted the training activities that will take place until September next year with the Festival school.

At the Villonaco plant, together with the wind turbines, the Festival Dances al Viento, which had the participation of six groups of modern dance and one of folk dance, who exhibited their art to the citizens present.

In the Plaza de la Cultura and organized by the Conservatory of Music Salvador Bustamante Celi, the meeting of drummers was held, who woke up in the present applause and admiration.

Thus, the locals said goodbye to this edition of Live Arts, which had a significant reduction in its financial budget, but which was the setting for locals and visitors to become protagonists.
