Ex-Corinthians, Romarinho says Benzema will give “more credibility” to Saudi football

Romarinho and Benzema will be teammates at Al Ittihad, in Saudi Arabia. The former playerCorinthianssaid that the arrival of the French striker will be “a great reinforcement” and will give “more credibility” to local football.

“Benzema is a great player, who has a huge history in football. Without a doubt, he will be a great reinforcement for our club to help us look for titles next season. I hope that the partnership is good and that we can score many goals”, said Romarinho in an interview with the newspaper. AS.

“With the arrival of world-class players, who have already achieved great things in Europe, it certainly makes more people watch the Saudi championship. This only makes competition grow and gives everyone even more credibility. It was like that with Cristiano, for example, and now with Benzema”, he added.

Benzema was introduced to Al Ittihad earlier this month after spending 14 seasons at Real Madrid. Since 2009 in Spanish football, the 35-year-old player has played 648 games, with 238 goals and 119 assists.

With a contract until the end of 2026 with the Arab team, Benzema will have an annual salary of 100 million euros (approximately R$540 million).

Romarinho, in turn, was hired by Al Ittihad in August 2018 and, so far, has 183 matches played and 102 goals netted.

In May of this year, Al Ittihad won the Saudi Arabia league by beating Al Feiha 3-0 with two goals from Romarinho. The former Corinthians player scored twice to claim the trophy.

“It is certainly a great moment, but I also had others. Now it is special for the achievements, for having reached 100 goals. This only motivates me to keep working to repeat all of this next season.”
