She met her first husband while studying at the Warsaw theater school. They were connected by acting and passion for ping-pong. When they got married in 1954, the actress was 21 years old. Soon after, they welcomed a daughter, Agnieszka, into the world. The decade went through many ups and downs, but the biggest crisis occurred in the early 1960s. At that time, Łaniewska’s husband had an affair with his neighbor, who turned out to be Irena Dziedzic, a star of PRL television. “Usually men go to much younger women. It turned out that one of them had just become a father and wanted to get to the hospital as soon as possible. Six months later, my current husband called, she later said. Andrzej Błaszczak tried for her favor for a long time, but initially she refused to meet. Finally, the daughter of the actress intervened and persuaded her to agree to a casual exit. — I didn’t want to date because Easter was coming up, I had classes, but I gave in to my daughter’s pleas, who insisted for a long time. (…) I finally agreed. And that’s how it all started,” Łaniewska said.
They both already had a certain baggage of experience, so they knew what to do to build a strong and stable relationship. The couple married in 1984 and have been almost inseparable ever since. The family idyll was interrupted by the shocking diagnosis of the artist’s husband – cancer. Despite proper treatment, the disease progressed quickly and a few months later, in April 2018, Andrzej Błaszczak died. Although the actress could count on the support of her relatives, loneliness was exhausting her. She missed her husband, could not accept the loss, and to make matters worse, she began to lose her eyesight, which further increased her malaise. passed away on December 7, 2020.
