The movie year 2023 promises to be very good. Cinemas will not only see productions that have a chance to become big hits, such as “Oppenheimer” and the second part of “Dune” awaited by Nolan fans. At the halfway point of the year, we also know which of the paintings cost the most. It is worth remembering, however, that budgets do not always go hand in hand with the quality of a given production.

The list of the most expensive films planned for 2023 is impressive. The amounts that the creators put into these images are really huge. We already know today that some works failed to keep pace with the competition and did not earn as much as expected. The list of the most expensive films of 2023 includes only high-profile titles. The largest investments concern superhero films and series known and liked by fans. Productions where CGI plays a huge role also have large budgets.

The most expensive movies of 2023. Which items cost the most?

In the list prepared by Culture Crave, we see well-known titles of films that we have already had the opportunity to see in cinemas and those that we are looking forward to. The budgets given below do not include additional costs that significantly increase the investment. It is about the amounts allocated to promotion and marketing, which today is the basis for the success of a given title.

  • The Little Mermaid – $250 million

The big five is closed by “The Little Mermaid”, which aroused much controversy even before its premiere. The film cost $250 million, but grossed nearly double that amount at the box office. Thanks to viewers who were curious about Ariel’s fate in the Rob Marshall production, the film earned almost $ 470 million.

  • Guardians of the Galaxy 3 – $250 million

Fourth place is James Gunn’s farewell not only to the Guardians series, but also to the entire MCU. The creator has officially moved to the competition and will soon try to raise the DC movie universe from its knees. Well received by critics and fans, the story about the friendship of a bunch of weirdos full of flaws, but also warmth, understanding and courage earned over $ 822 million. It is also one of the better rated MCU productions. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film received a freshness rating of 94 percent from viewers and 82 percent from critics.

  • Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 – $290 million

The podium is closed by the latest part of Mission Impossible. The seventh part of the well-known Tom Cruise series will be available in theaters from July 14, and its budget is $ 290 million. Initially, the film was supposed to cost $ 200 million, and the end of shooting for the production was planned at the turn of August and September 2020. However, the coronavirus thwarted the plans of the filmmakers. It is estimated that the work was worth completing the already large investment of time and money. Analyzes are circulating on the web that the new film with Tom Cruise can earn even over a billion dollars.

  • Indiana Jones and the Artifact of Destiny – $295 million

The second part of the list is the next part of the adventures of the world’s most famous archaeologist, Indiana Jones. The production directed by James Mangold cost USD 295 million, and whether the investment actually paid off, we will find out on June 30, when the film will enter Polish cinemas. So far, the work has received only 56 percent freshness in the critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which does not bode well for the film.

  • Fast and Furious 10 – $340 million

The first place is occupied by the 10th part of “The Fast and the Furious” by Louis Leterrier. The film is not only expensive, but also quite profitable. It was placed in the top three highest-grossing productions of 2023 with a profit of almost $696 million. The film’s stats on Rotten Tomatoes look a bit worse. Critics rated the image’s freshness at 56 percent.
