The fourteenth pension 2023. It will stay, but the conditions for its granting will change
According to the act, “fourteen” will not go to the accounts of all seniors. Only people whose income threshold does not exceed PLN 2,900 gross will receive it in full. In other cases, the “PLN for PLN” principle will be applied, therefore seniors with benefits above PLN 4,438.44 gross will not receive the 14th old-age pension at all. All thanks to the March indexation of benefits, which have not been taken into account when creating a new income threshold so far.
Until now, more seniors could count on it, because two years ago a different income threshold was in force. At that time, it was 120% of the average old-age pension, i.e. PLN 2,900. The current entries include only a specific amount, i.e. PLN 2,900. Oskar Sobolewski, quoted by the portal, admits that this is not the right solution. – Although I am not a supporter of the 14th pension, if the rulers decided to introduce it permanently, the criterion of the amount of the benefit, on which its payment depends, should increase. Let me remind you that this year pensions and disability pensions have gone up by 14.8 percent since March. This means that, while maintaining the same threshold, fewer people will benefit from the fourteen, but also fewer will receive it in full – says.
When will the 14th pension be paid? The benefit is to be flexible
According to the portal, the payment of the fourteenth is to take place at the end of August and September 2023. Seniors will receive money as standard, along with a monthly pension or disability pension. You do not need to submit any applications, because the benefit is granted automatically. According to the Act, payment dates in subsequent years will be set by October 31 of a given year. At that time, the Council of Ministers will also be able to issue an ordinance on increasing the amount of the 14th old-age pension.
