Michał Figurski has been one of the most popular Polish radio and television stars for many years. Throughout his 30-year career, he hosted numerous broadcasts and programs. Viewers know him from the talk show “Jazda figurowa” broadcast on TV4 or the Polsat News 2 program “WidziMisię”, with which he was associated for 3 years.

He never hid his health problems. While still a teenager, during a routine check-up, he learned that he had diabetes. However, he did not care about the diagnosis and disregarded the doctors’ recommendations. As the years passed, ravaging his body. Dialysis and regular insulin intake were necessary. Things got worse in 2015 when he suffered a massive stroke, leaving him in a wheelchair for a year. In the meantime, he also underwent a double kidney and pancreas transplant. Forced by the situation, he undertook rehabilitation and began treatment. Then he also reduced his professional duties and for some time completely disappeared from television.

Although Michał Figurski is now in much better shape, he has not managed to return to his pre-disease fitness. However, he decided it was time to reappear on the screen. Soon it will appear as a new Polsat “Temptation Island Polska”. In an interview with the portal, he revealed how he reacted when the program director offered him a job. “My first reaction was, ‘Edward, you do realize I’m disabled? And Edward smiled and said, “I don’t mind at all,” he recalled. He admitted that he is looking forward to new professional challenges. He wants to be authentic in front of the camera. “We agreed not to brand anything. I’m not going to pretend that I have both hands, that I can run marathons now, because that’s not the point. I’ll have to deal with it,” he said.

Figurski does not hide that returning to television in the current health situation will be a challenge for him, but he decided to prepare for it “like an athlete for the Olympics”. He knows that in the program he will have to face numerous difficulties, but after 8 years from the stroke, he is finally ready for a brave step. “I’ll have to rely on myself.” This is a big test and exam for me because I maintain that I am very self-reliant. To be honest, this is the next stage of my rehabilitation. So far, my work has been the best and this is the culmination, the most difficult task, the last rung on the ladder – summed up the journalist.
