Mysterious disappearances, catastrophes, treasures and riddles that have not been explained to this day. The seas and oceans abound in stories that often evoke goosebumps. These are just a few of the most famous examples.

Treasure hunters have been trying for a long time to find lost ships, which are supposed to contain unimaginable treasures. The bottoms of the seas and oceans hide thousands of wrecks, ships and submarines, and we still do not know about many of the secrets hidden there. For several days off the coast of Newfoundland, a search and rescue operation has been underway for the Titan, a submarine on which five passengers have set out to view the wreck. The search is difficult, because we are talking about an area of 25,000 square kilometers. And this is still a small part of the waters, at the bottom of which secrets are still unexplained.

Bermuda triangle. The most famous paranormal urban legend?

The Bermuda Triangle is a mysterious and paranormal area in Bermuda, Miami, Florida and Puerto Rico. This region is one of the most frequently visited by ships and planes, and the black legend was born already in the 20th century, when the disappearances began to get loud. One of the most famous cases is the disappearance of five American torpedo bombers on December 5, 1945.

Supporters of conspiracy theories and paranormal phenomena believe that in the Bermuda Triangle we are dealing with violations of the laws of physics, and even the intervention of aliens – aliens who hijack ships, boats, yachts and planes. The theories, however, are contradicted by statistics, according to which no more units die in this area than in other equally popular places. The explanation may be methane deposits and frequent hurricanes.

Mary Celeste: one of the most famous marine mysteries. The entire crew disappeared without a trace

The disappearance of the crew of the brigantine Mary Celeste is probably the most famous case of this type and at the same time one of the many unsolved maritime mysteries. Built in 1861, the ship, initially christened Amazon, from the moment it left the shipyard, dragged a string of strange events. The first captain died nine days after taking command of severe pneumonia. His successor, shortly after leaving the port, collided with a fishing boat. After returning to the shipyard, a fire broke out on board. The third captain also lost his post after colliding with another ship. The following years passed peacefully. In early November 1872, Mary Celeste set sail from New York for the port of Genoa, carrying 1,701 barrels of spirits on board. On December 5, the ship drifting about 400 miles from Gibraltar was spotted by the crew of Dei Gratia. The lifeboat was missing, and most importantly, all crew members had disappeared. Although there are many hypotheses, the mystery of the disappearance of eight sailors has not been solved to this day.

Unebi: The Japanese ship that disappeared without a trace. The wreck has not been found to this day

Unebi is an armored deck cruiser built in France for the Imperial Japanese Navy. Launched on April 6, 1886, she was extremely heavily armed with cannons, cannons and torpedo tubes. Its characteristic feature was the hull tapering towards the deck, which was supposed to compensate for the extremely heavy load. However, the unit had problems with stability. Unebi disappeared in the waters between Singapore and Japan in 1887. The reason for the disappearance was considered to be sinking under the influence of a storm, but this is still only a hypothesis. No traces of the crew or ship have been found, nor has its wreck been discovered to this day.
