A twist on the murder of Anastasia. The suspect’s roommate changed his statement. “I was afraid he would die”

The case of the murder of 27-year-old Anastasia on the Greek island of Kos is followed by the media around the world. The 32-year-old Bangladeshi suspect in the case was living with a roommate who had so far maintained that he had not met the girl. He changed his testimony on Wednesday evening.

Initially, the Pakistani claimed that he had not seen the tragic night, but during the next interrogation he changed his testimony. The 27-year-old worked in a hotel on the Greek island of Kos. She went missing on June 12, and her body was found a week later under a tree in the village of Tigaki.

The cause of Anastasia’s death was supposed to be asphyxiation, but it was in such an advanced stage of decomposition that the girl’s mother recognized it by the characteristic ring. Anastasia was last seen on the surveillance video of the market.

She was accompanied by a 32-year-old Bangladeshi. The man was detained as a murder suspect and although he initially admitted having had sex with Anastasia, he changed his statement during re-interrogation and contradicted his previous words. He maintained that he drove the girl to the address and they parted there.

A Pakistani roommate of the suspect initially testified that he had not seen Anastasia. During Wednesday’s hearing, he changed his statement and admitted that he returned home around 10 p.m. to find the girl there with a friend. “I asked why he had brought this girl and who she was. I saw her for the first time. He said she was “friend”. I told them to get out – during the interrogation. They obeyed the request and left the apartment. Roommate says they left around 11:00 on a motorbike. When he woke up in the night, his friend was still gone, so he began to worry. – I called him then because he was very drunk and I was afraid that something would happen to him on the motorbike, that he would die – in an interview with Greek TV. The change in the man’s testimony may indicate that he may have been intimidated before and tried to hide the truth.
