Owsiak lost to the creator of “Plastuś”. He compared animation to Nazi newsreels: Evil!

In 2019, in the program “Minê³a 20” on TVP Info, an animation entitled Goodnight by Barbara Piela. The creator used the so-called “Plastuś”, which were supposed to resemble real characters, to create a commentary on, among other things, the upcoming WO¦P finale. Among the animated figurines there was also Jurek Owsiak, who was shown as the favorite of the former mayor of the capital, Hanna Gronkieiwcz-Waltz. But that wasn’t the most outrageous thing.

In the recording, the figure was stealing donations from and stuffing them into bags prepared by the mayor of Warsaw. In addition, one of the banknotes featured the Star of David. Both Gronkiewicz-Waltz and the initiator of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity sued Piela for the animation. The creator of the recording did not owe them. Piela also filed a lawsuit against Owsiak, accusing him of defamation and violation of personal rights, which he allegedly committed in media statements.

Owsiak compares Piela’s animation to Nazi newsreels

Jurek Owsiak announced on his social media that he had lost the case. “In a short study we received yesterday, the court concluded that ‘pursuant to Article 17, paragraph 1, point 3 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the proceedings are discontinued when the social harmfulness of the act is negligible,'” the head of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity quotes the decision. Owsiak does not hide that he sees injustice in the sentence.

“It is enough to moan something, write about anyone from the ruling camp, which would present them in a distorting mirror, and immediately the chorus of howling that ‘it’s wicked that it’s an assault, it’s not possible that it’s scandalous, rude, hooliganism’!” – emphasizes the creator of a well-known charity campaign. At the same time, Owsiak disagrees with the statement that the recording was of low social harmfulness. On the contrary, there was a comparison to Nazi newsreels.

“But we won’t kick the horse, maybe we all need a return to normal rules of coexistence, imbued with the most human standards, and then we will see the plank in the eye. The return to such standards depends only on us. Evil!” – concludes Owsiak, referring to the upcoming elections.

Owsiak once again lost to the creator of Plastuś

Barbara Piela also referred to the verdict. The creator of Plastuś does not hide her joy with the results of the procedure. “The end of the battle against J. Owsiak against me! The last case is finally dismissed! Interrogations at police stations, police visits at home, media lynching, cases in the prosecutor’s office, courts – all won! – writes Piela.

This is the second loss of Owsiak with the artist. At the end of October 2022, the court of first instance ordered Owsiak to publish an apology in the media in connection with the statement made in 2019, “the wave of plasticine is such hatred, someone bursts onto the stage and stabs the man who works with us on this stage.” The statement referred to Piela and the death of Paweł Adamowicz. Owsiak appealed against the court’s decision.

The Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity has been supported and broadcast by Polish Television for years. The public broadcaster was proud of Jurek Owsiak’s initiative, which today is known all over the world. However, with the reshuffling of the authorities and the assumption of Jacek Kurski as the president of television, the policy of TVP also changed. TVN has been a partner of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity since 2017, and the public broadcaster not only does not support the initiative, but boycotts it. In the main edition of “Wiadomości” from year to year you hear about the collection less, and at one time there was a lot of talk about blurring the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity stickers on the air.
