On June 18, John Goodman appeared on the red carpet at the 62nd Monte Carlo International Television Festival. He was elected chairman of the jury. “Honestly, John Goodman is a legend,” festival organizer Laurent Puons told Variety. “My grandson loves him, my mother loves him and I love him,” he added.

The most important change, however, was giving up alcohol. Goodman battled addiction for a long time. At some point, he even began to consider giving up his acting career, because he did not want to appear on the screen. Addiction also led to the fact that he appeared on the set under the influence of alcohol.

In 2007, he began attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. “I was tired and disgusted looking at myself. I was shaving and didn’t feel like looking at myself in the mirror. It’s dangerous – in an interview with ABC in 2016. In the same year, in an interview with Howard Stern, he admitted that he had tried to get rid of excess kilos before, but this time he changed his approach, which resulted in success. – I took it slow. I wanted to change my life – and added that it was a “lifelong process”.
