Bridge pensions 2023. What will change?
The amendment to the act changed the expiring nature of bridging pensions. The provision limiting work in special conditions or of a special nature until January 1, 1999 has disappeared. As stated in the explanatory memorandum to the Act, “the technological progress assumed at the time of the introduction of the provisions of the Act on Bridging Pensions will not improve working conditions to the extent that would justify the conclusion that harmful conditions have been completely eliminated, which is additionally evidenced by the number of employees performing work in special conditions and of a special nature.” . Thanks to the changes, more employees will be able to retire on a bridging basis. 2023 will also bring other changes. The new law included a provision on compensation, i.e. compensation for the loss of the right to early retirement due to work of a special nature. The period of work qualifying for compensation is now to be before 1 January 2009.
More people will benefit from bridging pensions. This raises a problem
More people entitled to bridging pensions means some problems. Already today, the contributions paid by employers to the Bridge Pension Fund are not sufficient to pay benefits to all entitled persons. It is necessary to pay extra from the state budget. As noted in an interview with Dr. Antoni Kolek from the Pension Institute, the FEP results are negative. – So either we all pay extra in taxes, or employers will have to finance higher contributions – he emphasizes. The lowest bridging pension is currently PLN 1,588.44. According to “Fakt”, every fifth entitled person receives PLN 4,000 gross.
