Hilary Mantel died at the age of 70

Its British publisher, Harper Collins, announced her death on Friday on Twitter. He wrote: “We have broken hearts because our beloved author, Hilary Mantel, has passed away. Our thoughts are with her relatives and family, especially Gerald’s husband. This is a devastating loss and we can only be grateful that the writer left behind her works.”

In Poland, her books were published by the Sonia Draga publishing house. She is best known for her historical novels. She wrote the novel “Whom Death Will Reach” set during the French Revolution or the trilogy about Thomas Cromwell – “In Wolf Hall”, “On the scaffold” and “Mirror and Light”. The last part of the series about Wolf Hall, the above-mentioned “Mirror and Light”, was published by the author in 2020. That same year, she was also nominated again for the Booker Award. The entire trilogy focuses on the character of Thomas Cromwell, who was a minister and close advisor to King Henry VIII. She presented him from a completely different side – as an intelligent and polished man and a committed father.
