It’s good that nowadays, everyone has a mobile phone with them and can capture some things for longer. This is how people from the network learned about the story and the find of a certain woman.

Regan Daniels, a resident of North Carolina, went for a walk that day. Walking around suddenly something she decided to photograph and share it on Facebook. This “find” on the one hand resembled some unique Halloween decoration, on the other hand, it brought to mind all sorts of scenarios about a possible crime in that place. What she found was like the fingers of someone who had died long ago. Shivers ran through her body and her imagination ran wild. She posted the photos she took on one of the Facebook groups called “Mushroomcore”. They definitely stood out from the rest.

As you can easily guess from the name of the group, the “find” turned out to be relatively common and well-known also in Poland, it is called “Dead Man’s Fingers” (Xylaria polymorpha). The sight of him can really give you goosebumps and a cold sweat on your back. The fungus only attacks dead trees and can be seen sticking out of moss and rotten leaves. Interestingly, some people, watching the photo that Regan sent, said that it is not real. They thought it was too surreal. Experts assured, however, that it is very real, it makes it even bigger live, there are those who do not dare to approach too close. We would like to remind the brave ones that this mushroom is completely inedible.
