Currently, if a widow wants to collect the benefit of her deceased husband, she must resign from her husband’s benefit and also meet one of the following conditions:
- at the time of her husband’s death be over 50 years old or completely incapable of work,
- bring up at least one of the childrengrandchildren or siblings entitled to a pension after a deceased husband, who are under 16 (18 if they are studying at school),
- be over 50 years old or become incapable of work after the husband’s death, but at the latest within 5 years of his death or ceasing to bring up children,
- take care of a child completely incapable of work and independent existence or incapable of work and entitled to a survivor’s pension.
Which is also entitled to does not meet these conditions, but does not have a source of income. She will receive it one year after the death of her spouse, or no longer than two years if she participates in an organized training qualifying her for gainful employment. Of course, the survivor’s pension is also payable to the widower.
Retirement after marriage 2023. How much is it?
The survivor’s pension is paid monthly, and its amount depends on how many people receive it. In order to receive it, the widow is obliged to give up her benefit. Instead, you can count on:
- 85 percent benefits of the deceased, if only one person is entitled to a survivor’s pension,
- 90 percent benefits of the deceased, if 2 persons are entitled,
- 95 percent benefits of the deceased, if 3 or more persons are entitled.

Double benefit for widows. What is a widow’s pension?
The widow’s pension is a project submitted by the Left, which assumes another, more advantageous option. After the death of a spouse, the senior will be able to decide whether:
- will keep 100 percent of his benefit, and will collect 50 percent. benefits after the deceased spouse,
- will keep 50 percent his benefit, and will collect 100 percent. benefits for a deceased spouse.
In addition, the widow’s pension is to be available not only to all those entitled to receive the benefit, but also to those insured in KRUS and uniformed pensioners. The maximum amount of the pension will be PLN 7,600. Since the project was originally stuck in the parliamentary freezer, in April, Lewica collected over 200,000. signatures to be considered. This is to happen within 3 months, i.e. by July at the latest.
