Also present was the president of the Congress of Deputies, Meritxell Batet, who has lamented the “great loss” of Grandes’s departure. “It is a very sad day, I personally regret very much this precipitous death of Almudena Grandes. It is a great loss for a generation that had her as a reference as a writer, but also as a woman very committed to her country and her society, and the truth the thing is we are going to miss her very much“, has recognized Batet.

For her part, the minister Ione Belarra has shown his “infinite” thanks to Grandes “for giving us the ability to feel, to imagine, to live in some way the lives of those who fought for the same thing that we think we fight today, for democracy and social justice.”

Angel Gabilondo, ombudsman, has highlighted the ability of Grandes to give a voice “to the supposedly insignificant.” The minister Miquel Iceta The latter also said goodbye to Grandes: “There were in her the confluence of several factors: her taste for history, for the recovery of memory, an incredible quality of writing and her feminist and left-wing character.”
