Spotify has finalized a lucrative podcast deal with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
A joint statement from the company of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the music giant in the streaming it claimed that the two parties had “mutually agreed to separate”.
Spotify has confirmed that it will not renew Meghan’s Archetypes podcast, which had 12 episodes as of August 2022.
There won’t be a second season.
Some sources estimated the value of that contract at 25 million USD by the end of 2020.

It was one of the bigger business deals the couple signed after stepping down from royal duties and moving to the United States in 2020.

When it was announced, the prince said the podcast would “show different perspectives and voices that you may not have heard of before.”
In Archetypes, Meghan spoke to high-profile figures like Serena Williams and Mariah Carey about stereotypes against women.
A statement from Spotify and Archewell Audio, the pair’s content creation label, said both parties were “proud of the series we’ve made together.”
Award for the best podcast
In December, “Archetypes” won the award for the best podcast at The audience’s choice award in Los Angeles.
Then Meghan wrote: “I loved immersing myself in the process, sitting up late at night in bed, working on the script and letting my creativity flow.”
“I loved engaging in meaningful conversations with my diverse and inspiring guests, laughing and learning with them. It was a labor of love.”

The Wall Street Journal quoted an Archewell spokeswoman as saying that Meghan “will continue to develop more content for the Archetypes audience on another platform.”
When the deal with Spotify was first announced, plans to produce several seasonsbut in the end only one came true.
US media reports suggest that the royal couple have failed to meet Spotify’s required level of productivity and will therefore not receive the full value of the contract.
