Those responsible for the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum are working to host exhibitions such as the one dedicated to Giovanni Anselmo, pieces of Pop Art, Martha Jungwirth, Yoshitomo Nara, Hilma af Klint or Steve McQueenamong others.

The museum has received 453,487 visitors in the first five months of this year, 24% more than in 2022 and the third best figure in its history.

The Board of Trustees of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Foundation met this Wednesday. As reported by the Guggenheim and those responsible have assessed, with the “return to normality” after the pandemic, the percentage of foreign visitors is recovering, which this year is six points higher than the accumulated in 2022 on the same dates, with which is estimated at 54% of the total. France stands out as the country of origin, followed by countries such as the United Kingdom and Germany.

In this session of the Board of Trustees, the members that make it up have been informed of the exhibition projects that are being worked on for 2024, such as the one dedicated to the Italian creator who is a member of Arte Povera Giovanni Anselmothe presentation of the sculptural practice of June Crespoor the exhibition dedicated to historical pieces of the Pop Art from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum juxtaposed with new works by contemporary artists who explore the legacy of this movement in their work.

To them are added the painting of the Austrian Martha Jungwirthwhich “has created its own abstract language linked to the physical world”, a journey through the complete trajectory of Japanese Yoshitomo Narathe “bold, colourful, pioneering” paintings and drawings by the Swedish artist Hilma af Klintor the presentation of the most recent work of Steve McQueenThey have explained from the Guggenheim.

In addition, for the Film & Video room, two projects are being developed, one around the Dutch duo metahaven and his work ‘The theory of chaos’ and a second on the British author Anthony McCall and one of its “most emblematic” installations, ‘Split Second’.
