Marek Perepeczko died on November 17, 2005. The audience loved him above all for the role of the iconic Janosik. The actor was buried in Warsaw’s Powązki Cemetery. What does his grave look like today?

In 1965 he graduated from the Warsaw PWST. In the same year, he made his debut on the stage of the Warsaw Classical Theater and appeared for the first time on the big screen in “Popioły”. Although he created many excellent creations, real fame came to him almost a decade later.

directed by Jerzy Passendorfer hit the small screens in 1973 and today is considered one of the most popular Polish series. Perepeczko played the role of the title character, gaining the sympathy and recognition of the viewers. Although the production was successful not only in Poland, but also abroad, and his role was appreciated by critics, it ended up in a drawer. Then his career stalled. — I have not played many significant or leading things in my life. My achievements are what they are. Perhaps my predispositions were not used – bitterly many years later. He decided to go to Australia, where his wife Agnieszka Fitkau-Perepeczko was staying.

For the next 15 years, Perepeczko appeared on the screen sporadically, playing small episodes. It wasn’t until the late 1990s that he got rid of the labels of “actor of one role” and “robber” for good. Then he got a job at the Teatr im. Adam Mickiewicz in Częstochowa, of which he also became the director, and shortly afterwards he played the commander Władysław Słoik in the sitcom. In the following years, he also starred in such productions as “Sara”, “Pan Tadeusz” or “Attraktacyjny will meet you”, consolidating his position in the film industry.

On the night of November 16/17, 2005, he suffered a massive heart attack, as a result of which he died. He was 63 at the time. He was buried at the Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw in his hometown. More photos can be found in the gallery at the beginning of the article.
