Support benefit. Who can apply and when should applications be submitted?
The support benefit is intended for people who have the greatest difficulties with independent functioning. It will be awarded to persons over 18 years of age. Decisions on who will receive support will be issued by voivodeship disability assessment teams at the request of persons interested in this form of assistance. Importantly, the income threshold will not be taken into account here at all. It is worth remembering, however, that the benefit is to be granted to persons whose level of need for support is at least 70 points.
The first applications for a support benefit will be submitted from 1 January 2024, but only in the case of people with disabilities with the highest level of need for support. The second stage is to take place on January 1, 2025, and then applications will be able to be submitted by those who show average support needs. The last round of granting the benefit will be January 1, 2026. Then other applicants can apply. What amounts of the support benefit can they count on?
How much will the support benefit be? The fixed amount will be paid monthly
According to the draft, the amount of the support benefit will be indexed every year, as it depends on the amount of the social pension. People from the first threshold are to receive even 200% of the pension, from the second threshold 100%, and from the third threshold 50%. It is therefore estimated that these amounts will range from PLN 600 to even PLN 3,500 per month. What else is going to change with the introduction of the new benefit? If someone decides not to take it, the carer of a person with disabilities will be able to collect a nursing benefit, and additionally add up to six times the minimum wage in a given year to the budget.
