Rafał Szałajko is a 49-year-old theater and film actor who has recently been best known for his role as Wiesław Kurek in the Polish TV series “Leśniczówka”. Privately, he is married to journalist Katarzyna Niedźwiedz-Szałajko and the father of six children. The youngest daughter Aniela Maria was born less than a few weeks ago. The actor shared a photo of the youngest offspring on social media.
Doctors gave Rafał Szałajko’s son no chance of survival
The father of a large family knows that parenthood is both sweet and bitter moments. He knows this from the autopsy, because six years ago one of his children turned out to be seriously ill. We are talking about one of the twins, Wilhelm, born in 2015. Five years later, he was diagnosed with cancer that was supposed to be incurable. “We are asking God for a miracle,” the actor said at the time when his 5-year-old son was fighting for his life. Later, he described the child’s illness in an interview with the Aleteia portal: “The diagnosis was absolute. Lymphoma, tumor in the head. Eyes stopped seeing, metastases to the kidneys and liver.”
The actor’s wife then moved in with her baby at the Children’s Health Center in Warsaw. She did not want to leave her suffering son and support him in the fight against the disease. However, the child’s father visited them every day and called on his fans to pray for Wilhelm’s health. “The suffering of a child that you can’t do anything about is shocking. It’s black despair and total darkness,” Rafał Szałajko wrote in social media at the time, asking for prayer.
The life of the whole family suddenly changed in the blink of an eye
Doctors reportedly gave the child no chance of survival, but the actor constantly believed that God would grant his prayers and do the impossible. Finding his faith again allowed him to stay calm and not sink into depression. And then suddenly a miracle happened:
After seven months in the hospital, after weeks of chemotherapy, Wili returned home completely healthy. After screaming in pain at night, he became hoarse. This hoarseness has remained to this day. It is the only trace of the disease – said Rafał Szałajko.
After this miraculous healing, another dream of the actor and his wife came true. Their daughter Jagna was born. However, at the beginning of this year, their family was enlarged by another consolation – Aniela Maria, who is now the most important family member for everyone.
