Patryk Vega now has a pseudonym. He showed the trailer of an English-language film about Putin – it’s harsh

Patryk Vega wasn’t joking when he announced that he was going to make films in English. The trailer of his latest project – a film about Vladimir Putin – has just hit the web. Although it lasts only 90 seconds, it provides intense experiences. Interestingly, the director began using the pseudonym Bezalel.

The director, once known as , and now using the pseudonym Bezalel, has released a trailer for his new film about Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to “”, the production is to delve into “Putin’s mind and Russian soul”, and is also an expression of “artistic opposition to the Russian dictator and the war in Ukraine”. Bezalel argues that as a Polish filmmaker, he is an ideal candidate to create such productions for an international audience.

Vega now has a nickname and already has a trailer for a movie about Putin

The film is called “Putin”, and Vega announces that it will be a political thriller and a psychological portrait of the Russian president. According to the information provided by “The Hollywood Reporter”, the production was originally to be titled “The Vor in Law”, which is a reference to the Russian term for the mafia “godfather”. The script is to explore Putin’s links with the criminal world when he was the mayor of Saint Petersburg, as well as analyze his approach to politics – domestically and internationally.

On the occasion of the premiere of the trailer, Patryk Vega (or rather Bezalel) also made a statement to foreign media:

Americans, and even Europeans from the western part of the continent, do not understand Putin. I am a person marked by communism, I grew up in communist Poland. At the same time, I was shaped by the audiovisual culture of Hollywood. That’s why I believe I can translate the intricacies of Eastern culture into the language of the West.

The trailer of his film is “conceptual” for now, which probably means in this case that it only shows what the director decided to include in the production. Vega announces that it will combine characters from the real world with the aesthetics and iconography of Russian art and beyond. As examples, he points to the works of the Renaissance painter Caravaggio and the medieval monk Andrei Rublev, who created icons, frescoes, miniatures and illustrations for manuscripts. As we read in the filmmaker’s statement: “I want the characters of saints and demons to blend perfectly into the world of St. Petersburg’s streets filled with sprains and tortured Russian souls.”

Bezalel wants to cast an American actor or international star as Putin. “The Hollywood Reporter” reports that the production budget is 12 million dollars, and the shooting is to take place in Poland, Lithuania and Malta. As for the trailer itself: it’s shot in sepia, full of shots using the deep fake generator, and scenes with a politician are interspersed with shots of exploding buildings, bombers, marching troops, etc.

The narrative is led by a small boy (perhaps an emissary of Satan) who talks to Putin, who is shaking in his underwear, about what he needs to do to have 100 percent. in all elections. The figure of a child appears throughout the trailer and accompanies Putin at various stages of his life. Then there are e.g. a shot in which the main character has an affair with a young woman and says to his ex-wife: I am erasing you from history, Lyudmila. There are also e.g. digitally generated Boris Yeltsin and Bill Clinton.

Comments under the trailer on YouTube indicate that Polish viewers are already skeptical about Vega’s concept at this stage: “Honestly, I didn’t expect Vega to take the ‘artificial intelligence would make a better movie than you’ argument seriously. SERIOUS seriously”, “Vega still holds up”, “This is going to be fat”, “I can see it’s going to be a rollercoaster ride. Vega has already freed himself from the gravitational pull of our planet and is hurtling through space. I don’t think this will be understood in Hollywood”. One of the users also checked the origin of Patryk Vega’s new nickname: “Besalel, Bezalel – the craftsman responsible for making the Ark of the Covenant and the Mosaic Tabernacle when the Israelites were in the desert. And I thought it was the name of a fallen angel from the Bible.”
