Samantha Jones’ return to the small screen was eagerly awaited by “Sex and the City” fans, but it also opened up an old wound: tensions between lead actresses Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker.

As El Comercio points out, Cattrall’s absence from “And Just Like That” was notorious, and while there has been speculation about the reasons for her departure, the artist has been clear about her stance.

Kim Cattrall will appear in the second season of the series ‘Just like that’, the sequel to ‘Sex and the City’

Tensions between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall

It was in 2016 when Cattrall announced that she was leaving her role as Samantha Jones and refused to participate in the third film in the series because it did not do justice to her character.

It was a decision that fueled rumors of animosity between the actress, described as a “diva,” and other stars on the set, particularly Parker.

The situation got complicated in 2019 when Sarah Jessica Parker sent her condolences to Kim on Instagram over the death of her brother, to which she responded by calling her a “hypocrite,” writes Elle.

Despite the tensions, the protagonist of the movie “Dudley-Do-Right” assured in the podcast of “The Hollywood Reporter” that the break was only professional: “Those at the production company were not comfortable to meet their demands, so we didn’t make the movie because we didn’t want to do it without Kim.”

After a few years away from “Sex and the City,” Kim Cattrall will reprise her iconic role in a cameo in Michael Patrick King’s “Just Like That,” reuniting the original cast on screen.

As reported by El Comercio, it has not yet been determined whether the actress will permanently participate in the cast, but for now it is known that we will see Carrie Bradshaw calling Samantha Jones on the phone, a scene that was filmed in New York during the month of March.

In the series, whose second season premieres on June 22, Kim’s character has moved to London and promises Carrie that they will meet in person soon, writes Who magazine.
