– Remek Wróbel is a postman and an avid footballer of the amateur team. He is in his forties and lives a bachelor’s life. He passionately studies the encyclopedia, exercising his extraordinary memory. Apart from the resourceful, shady business, Pedro, there is no one close to him in the world. And he’s fine with it. One day, everything changes – his well-ordered life turns upside down, and unexpectedly appear in his grandfather, whom he had not known until now, and a new, outspoken neighbor Marzenka. Remek will have to learn how to make lemonade when life gives you lemons – we read in the plot summary invented by Tomasz Gąssowski.
The filmmaker is undoubtedly a very versatile man – in addition to directing and writing screenplays, he also composes film music with great success. For the music to Imagine by Andrzej Jakimowski, he received the RMF Classic MocArt award for the best film score in 2013. Gąssowski made his debut in a short film. His “Baraż” has been recognized with numerous awards, e.g. at the Warsaw Film Festival, the National Festival of Film Art “Prowincjonalia”, Lubuskie Film Summer, the International Film and Music Festival “Transatlantyk”. In the justifications of the jury’s verdicts, the sentence was often repeated: “For telling in a simple way about important matters.”
“Wróbel” is also his original idea and he focuses on subtle acting, unobtrusive music and a camera “vigilant” to documentary events. It was not without reason that he invited Borusiński to cooperate again, who had already received the Machulski Award for his role in “Baraż”. Recall – he is the co-creator of Mumio. The group has been operating on the Polish theater and cabaret scene for almost 30 years. The already legendary performances of the group are a feast for lovers of subtle, abstract humour.
In addition to Jacek Borusiński, “Wróbel” will also feature: Julia Chętnicka (who, alongside Andrzej Seweryn, delighted in “Queen” from Netflix), Krzysztof Stroiński, Piotr Rogucki, Bartłomiej Kotschedoff, Maria Maj, Agnieszka Matysiak. The second set will include Iwo Zaniewski, Stefan Szczepłek, Wojciech Fiedorczuk, Krzysztof Herdzin, Radek Majewski. The photos were taken by Wojciech Staroń, who has been cooperating with Krzysztof Krauze and Joanna Kos-Krauze for years. He was behind the camera on the set of such films as “Papusza” (with Krzysztof Ptak), “Plac Zbawiciela” or “Birds sing in Kigali”. He is also the director of the original, unique documentary “Bracia”. For his work in Poland and around the world, he received many awards, including the Silver Bear at the Berlin Festival in 2011. “
