Why do people see different colors of flip flops?
This issue has already been clarified during an online argument over the color of the dress from the famous photo. What is the reason for this? – This phenomenon is called color matching or color constancy. Our brain knows (because it learned it) that the same color can look completely different under different lighting conditions. (…) If the dress was standing in a shop window illuminated by the bright sun, the original colors were probably white and gold. If the clothes were illuminated with artificial incandescent light, the true colors were close to black and blue. This is the moment when people share. Depending on the interpretation of the brain of each of us, we evaluate colors differently. One brain thinks it sees sunlight and evaluates the dress as white and gold. The other decides that the light is yellowish and sees a blue and black dress.
