Bruce Willis and his family are not giving up. There is new news about the actor’s condition

In February 2023, Willis’s family reported that the actor’s health had deteriorated and that his illness had progressed to frontotemporal dementia (FTD), which made it difficult for him to speak and communicate with the world. This information went around the world almost a year after the star’s relatives issued a statement in which they confirmed that Willis was giving up acting due to the detected aphasia.

The 68-year-old is being looked after all the time, especially by his beloved wife Emma Heming Willis, who on his birthday wrote: “My wish for Bruce is that you continue to remember him in your prayers and send him good energy because his sensitive soul will feel it.”

In a recent post on Instagram, Willis’s wife announced that research aimed at developing a cure for her husband’s disease was prematurely terminated because the results were unsatisfactory:

Yesterday I read that Wave Life Sciences has completed a clinical trial to help treat frontotemporal dementia and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). While I wasn’t even sure if it would help us, it felt like I had been punched in the stomach,” the post reads.

He goes on to write that he realizes that he must also see the positive side. “They are at least trying. So I want to thank Wave Life Sciences as well as the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation and the AFTD who have played an active role in the Treat FTD Fund program. Please keep this momentum based on sound knowledge and new discoveries and don’t give up Our family will never lose faith and hope,” she concluded.

The actor’s family, in a statement provided by the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, expressed hope that the interest in the actor’s disease in the media will translate into effectiveness in developing the right medicine and increasing public awareness of his disease: “Today there is no cure for it, but the situation may change We look forward to bringing Bruce to the media to shed light on this disease that requires much greater awareness and extensive research.”
