On May 30, the next edition of “Mam Talent” began in the USA. Among others, the South African choir Mzansi Youth appeared at the auditions for the program. After the first episode of the series, the artists set the bar very high, touching the hearts of the entire jury.
They sang in “Mam Talent” and put everyone on the shoulder. They commemorated the deceased participant of the program
The choir was founded 20 years ago to help young people who got lost in life. As it turned out, despite the distance separating America and South Africa, the message of the program and the people appearing in it is universal. Members of Mzansi Youth Choir were inspired by one of the participants of previous editions and performed the song “It’s Ok” by Nightbirde.
Both the song and the artist were exceptional for the jury and the history of the program. Nightbirde is the pseudonym of Jane Marczewski, who shared the story of the disease on the talent show. Simon Cowell pressed the Golden Button after the singer’s performance, but Marczewski did not take part in the next stage of the competition. Her condition suddenly deteriorated, the artist died in February 2022 at the age of only 31.
They got the Golden Button from all the “Mam Talent” judges. Simon Cowell couldn’t hold back his tears
No wonder that the choir’s emotional performance moved the jurors and the audience so much. When Howie Mandel realized that the artists had chosen this repertoire, he grabbed his head. “You deserve more than a ‘yes’ for coming here, you deserve a ‘thank you’,” he commented on the performance. Simon Cowell was even more excited by the choir.
The strictest of the jurors was unable to utter a single word for a moment. Emotion broke his voice, and tears stood in his eyes. Cowell asked the artists why they chose this piece. “We wanted to carry her message further” – fell from the stage, which even more affected the emotions gathered in the studio.
“I know how much it would mean to her. She had a great passion and desire to share music until the end, and you paid her such an extraordinary tribute” – complimented the juror choir. The rest was just a formality. The entire jury, including the host of the program, simultaneously placed their hands on the Golden Button and awarded the choir, distinguishing their performance. The group thus automatically advanced to the finals of the competition.
