This is the first such duo in history! A mother and daughter piloted a nearly 15-hour flight together

This is the first such duo of female pilots in history! The American website businessinsider.com interviewed a mother and daughter who piloted a FedEx plane together on an international flight. Teri Edison and Nicole McCallister flew from Tennessee, USA, to South Korea. They decided to celebrate Mother’s Day in this way.

How did they come to take the reins together? Teri McCallister revealed that two weeks before her scheduled flight from Memphis International Airport to Incheon, South Korea, she asked the FedEx chief pilot if her daughter would fly with her. The company agreed to changes in the composition of the crew.

If the flight lasts more than 12 hours, two back-up pilots are needed to take your seat for the break. My husband replaced one of them so the three of us flew which was fantastic

– she told Business Insider in an interview.

“We had some turbulence on our way out of Memphis, but otherwise the flight was pretty smooth,” Nicole added.

“We flew, and it didn’t seem as strange as I thought. When we flew together, my daughter Nicole would respond to checklist items and I would respond to calls, just like on all other flights. Once we got to cruising altitude, we were able to relax a bit, engage the autopilot and talk, Teri explained.

After landing, the family had a nice time with dinner.

“This is my dream job”

Nicole confessed that already at the age of 13-14 she knew that she wanted to follow in her parents’ footsteps and become a pilot. At first, however, they urged her to study law. – I want to be a pilot! she insisted.

When I got older and was in college, where I did some flight training, my mother mentioned that working for FedEx was a great opportunity to advance my career and get the company to pay for some of my pilot training

she continued. Later, she flew with Ravn Alaska Airlines, from where she went back to FedEx. “It’s my dream job,” she said. She is currently stationed in Anchorage and her mother in Memphos. They fly the same model of aircraft: the Boeing 777.
