The movie ‘anatomy of a fall‘ (Anatomy of a shot), directed by the French filmmaker Justine Triethas won the Palme d’Or at the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. Thus, Triet is the third woman to win the highest award of the cinematographic appointment of the French Riviera.

The award for Best Direction has gone to the Franco-Vietnamese director tran anh hung by ‘The Passion of Dodin Bouffant‘, starring Juliette Binoche and Benoit Magimel. In script, the award has been obtained by the Japanese Yuji Sakamoto by ‘Monster‘, a film directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda which deals with childhood and homosexuality.

Another great favourite, ‘Lto area of ​​interest‘ from british Jonathan Glazer, has won the Grand Prix. In the interpretation section, the winners have been the Turkish Merve Dizdarfor the movie ‘Dry Grasses‘ (Nuri Bilge Ceylan), and the Japanese koji yakusho for his role in ‘Perfect Days‘, of Wim Wenders.

The list of feature films completes it ‘Fallen Leaves‘, from Finnish Aki Kaurismakiwhich has been awarded the Jury Prize.

Regarding the short films, the winning work of the Palme d’Or has been ‘27‘, from the Hungarian Flora Anna Buddhawhile the Icelandic ‘far‘, of Gunnur Martinsdottir Schlüter, has received a special mention. With this, the proposals coming from Spain (‘Although it is night‘), Colombia (‘The dog‘) and Argentina (‘nothing of all this‘) have not won any awards.

Before Triet, the only women who had obtained the palm d’or they had been jane campion by ‘The piano‘, in 1993, and Julia Ducournau, for ‘titane‘ in 2021, who in this edition was part of the jury, chaired by the Swede Ruben Östlund and also integrated, among others, by the Argentine filmmaker Damian Szifron.
