We are doing better and better and we are happy about that ”, indicates.

Andrey Astaiza, director of the School of Sound Arts at the University of the Arts, points out that this festival is part of the activities that the university presents every Thursday. “Every Thursday we have a musical calendar in which the School of Sound Arts participates”says about the meetings held since July.

“It is a way of showing the community the work carried out by the School of Sound Arts, it is a return to the community of the trust they have placed in us as a public university, showing them the product of what we do, what we work and what we do. we teach here at the university ”, adds the artist as well.

One of the musicians to participate is Miguel Gallardo, pianist from Costa / Sierra and teacher at UArtes. The group is complemented by Luis Sigüenza, on saxophone; Cayo Iturralde, on the ground floor; and Fidel Vargas, on drums. The group seeks to fuse different styles of Ecuadorian music.

Francisco Echeverria, a guest pianist who will play with the Costa / Sierra band, describes the festival as an interesting proposal that seeks to spread local and international jazz. “It is vital that we do not let this genre die in our country, and that we do not forget it (…) the moment we know the beauty of this musical art, we let ourselves be carried away by it and we fall in love with jazz ”, assures.

The pianist will play songs composed by some members of the band and other jazz classics.
