Waldemar Obłoza was born on August 19, 1959 as the youngest of five siblings. The family led a happy and peaceful life until the actor’s mother, Wanda, began to have serious health problems. When he was 6 years old, a woman was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Although she underwent treatment, her life could not be saved. It was just the beginning of one of the most difficult periods in the artist’s life.
The actor ended up in an orphanage. He was supposed to be in the facility “for a while”, and he stayed for three years
The actor’s father could not come to terms with the death of his beloved wife. Professional duties, working on the farm and caring for five children caused him difficulties. The family was barely making ends meet. “Dad suffered so much after Mom died that he couldn’t keep up with everything. Especially the two little brothers, the urchins. Then my older sister and my aunt made a heroic decision to relieve my father and send me and my brother to an orphanage. But only for a moment – Obłoza in the program “Dzień Dobry TVN”. Although the situation was supposed to be only temporary, it ended up lasting more than three years. Obłoza recalled that the most difficult thing was not staying in the institution, but saying goodbye to his father and knowing that once he got on the bus, he would not be able to come back. — The bus arrived, my father kissed us and said, “So with God,” he recalled bitterly, adding that it was also a great experience for his father.
Waldemar Obłoza does not hide that his stay in the orphanage was a real life lesson for him. In a large institution, no one paid special attention to individual charges, so everyone was on their own and had to take care of their own existence. For this reason, there were often fights, because, as the actor recalled, “everything had to be won”. Teenagers left unattended often left their rooms or premises without the consent of their guardians. During one of the escapes, the future star was caught by the militia. He has never broken the rules again since then.
After an orphanage, he went to a boarding school. A few years later, Obłoza’s father died
After 3 years, he was already independent enough to live alone. He then moved from an orphanage to a boarding school belonging to the high school he attended. He began to visit the family home regularly and spend time with his father. He willingly helped him in the farm and everyday duties, especially since the man was not in good health. “I can say he was a hero. He worked terribly hard. I don’t blame him for anything. I think he did everything he could. He was an extremely talented and hard-working man, but fate overturned him – in an interview with “Fact”. When the actor was 15 years old, his father died after a long cancer disease. Obłoza admitted that his only regret was that he did not have the opportunity to create a real, adult bond with him. “Unfortunately, I didn’t make it,” said the serial Roman from .
Waldemar Obłoza confessed that in retrospect staying in the orphanage was not a bad experience at all. Although he once resented his relatives, today he is grateful to them for making such a decision. Thanks to this, he became independent and knows what values should be followed in life. “He gave me an amazing lesson in resourcefulness that I still have today. An orphanage is not a curse, it is not a disease, and I am a living example of this – he claimed in the program.
