In recent days, we have been able to find many entries in social media in which Internet users reported meeting two American actors on the streets of Warsaw. It quickly came to light that Jesse Eisenberg, who is known for his role as Mark Zuckerberg in “The Social Network”, is shooting his latest film in our country with Kieran Culkin. The production will be inspired by the history of the Eisenberg family.
“A Real Pain” will be about discovering your pedigree
The plan of shooting the film in our country was initially shrouded in mystery. The first information appeared with announcements about the search for extras in the Lubelskie Voivodeship. Only recently did it come to light that Eisenberg is currently working on his film “A Real Pain”, in which he will also play the main character. The production is to tell the story of two cousins who, after the death of their grandmother, decide to come from the United States to Poland to look for their roots.
Eisenberg and Culkin, apart from Warsaw, are also to visit Lublin and Krasnystaw – probably hence the search for extras in the Lubelskie Voivodeship. It turns out that these locations were not chosen by chance. It is from these regions that the Eisenberg family comes from. Some of the relatives emigrated to the USA in 1918, and the rest hid during the war in Lviv, which is now in Ukraine.
Initially, no one expected that the actor would stay in Poland after the Mastercard Off Camera film festival. According to the portal, one of the people involved in the production told about the course of work on the film in Warsaw:
He was shooting something like test shots here. He checked how best to position the characters in specific locations. We ‘played’ these scenes in place of the actual cast so that we could test the setting of subsequent scenes and lighting issues in practice. We mainly moved around the former Jewish district: we shot in front of the Polin Museum or in the vicinity of Grzybowski Square.
It is not known how long the actors will stay in Poland. On Tuesday, May 23, they were seen at Warsaw’s Central Railway Station, where, like ordinary travelers, they were waiting for their train. Photos from the platform caused a lot of interest among Internet users, who were very eager to joke about this situation. “I did not think that in this life I would see a film about Zuckerberg, who would experience pendolino delays in Warsaw Central,” commented one of the users.
