At the Cannes Film Festival, the premiere of the first television series in the history of the event officially took place. In the assumptions of its creators, it was supposed to be a darker version of “Euphoria”, but the production will focus on showing the dark side of show business. The five-part series is co-created by Sam Levinson (“Euphoria”), Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Reza Fahim. According to critics, the production can leave viewers stunned. What will “The Idol” be about?
The main character of the series is pop singer Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp), who has to stop her last concert tour due to a nervous breakdown after the death of her mother. After some time, she decides to return to show business and fight for the title of the sexiest star in America. However, concert tickets aren’t selling as well as they used to, and she meets Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye), who owns a nightclub in Los Angeles. She starts an affair with him, and when she gets to know him better, it turns out that the man is a guru of self-development and the leader of a religious sect. What compromises is she willing to make to get back on top? “The Idol” shows the price that sometimes you have to pay for fame.
