The premiere of “The Idol” received applause. However, critics compare the Lily Rose Deep series to a Pornhub video

At the Cannes Film Festival, the first two episodes of the production of “The Idol”, for which HBO Max is responsible, were shown. This is the first time the series has been presented on the Côte d’Azur and it immediately shocked the audience. Mainly because of the nude scenes with Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis. On the screen, she is partnered by the popular singer The Weeknd.

At the Cannes Film Festival, the premiere of the first television series in the history of the event officially took place. In the assumptions of its creators, it was supposed to be a darker version of “Euphoria”, but the production will focus on showing the dark side of show business. The five-part series is co-created by Sam Levinson (“Euphoria”), Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Reza Fahim. According to critics, the production can leave viewers stunned. Mainly because of the bold staff, which some even described as “pornographic”. However, the audience really liked the series and gave it a standing ovation.

What will “The Idol” be about?

The main character of the series is pop singer Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp), who has to stop her last concert tour due to a nervous breakdown after the death of her mother. After some time, she decides to return to show business and fight for the title of the sexiest star in America. However, concert tickets aren’t selling as well as they used to, and she meets Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye), who owns a nightclub in Los Angeles. She starts an affair with him, and when she gets to know him better, it turns out that the man is a guru of self-development and the leader of a religious sect. What compromises is she willing to make to get back on top? “The Idol” shows the price that sometimes you have to pay for fame.

The daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis is very excited to be part of this production and can’t wait for it to finally be made available to all viewers. “I love this show, I love this role, I’m obsessed with this story and I can’t wait for everyone to discover it. This role was a huge gift that gave me the feeling that I can move on,” Lily-Rose Depp wrote on Twitter .

The cast also includes Troye Sivan, Dan Levy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Eli Roth, Hari Nef, Jane Adams, Jennie Ruby Jane, Mike Dean, Moses Sumney, Rachel Sennott, Ramsey, Suzanna Son and Hank Azaria. The premiere of the new series will take place on June 5 on the HBO Max streaming service.
