Currently, at the top of the TOP10 list of the most watched series in Poland is “Niema Silence” (English title is “Muted”, and the original one is “El Silencio”). The Spanish thriller has been more popular in recent days than the romantic comedy “XO, Kitty” or “Queen Charlotte”. The latter title has been available on Netflix since May 4, while the first two debuted on May 19.
“Silent Silence” on Netflix – Spanish thriller 16+ with the actor “Schools for the elite”
The creator of “Silent Silence” is Aitor Gabilondo, and the main role was played by 26-year-old Aron Piper (Ander Muñoz from the series “School for the Elite”), already known to Netflix users. He plays Sergio Ciscar, who comes out of juvie six years after he murdered his parents before he was an adult. While in prison, he did not say a word and did not cooperate with the justice system in any way, so his motivations remain a mystery.
Sergio now returns to the family home he inherited, and psychiatrist Ana Dussel (played by Almudena Amor) and her team start watching him around the clock without his knowledge. What is their purpose? Trying to determine if he poses a threat to society. The six-episode production is intended for viewers over 16 years of age.
“So bad you’ll want to howl at the TV screen.” Certainly worse than “XO, Kitty”
For now, there are too few TV reviewers’ texts on Rotten Tomatoes to draw an average, but more than fifty viewers have already expressed their opinion about the Spanish production, and here the percentage of these positive ones is only 12 percent. And what do those journalists who have already published their articles write?
“So bad you’ll want to howl at the TV screen” – his review of “Silent Silence” Jack Seale of the “Guardian”, giving the series one out of five stars. “Usually a bad drama has a plot with holes. The Spanish psychological thriller ‘Silent Silence’ is more like a black hole sucking in the occasional drifting nugget of narrative, destroying each one without a trace. Rarely has such a serious mini-series made so little sense,” he notes. Also, the opinion on the Spanish-language website Espinof is not flattering. “It’s a huge disappointment; it promised to be a good show with enough talent behind it to make a noteworthy production, but nothing really works here,” writes Mikel Zorrilla.
“XO, Kitty” appealed to critics and viewers much more. The story of Kitty Song Covey, whom we met as the younger sister of Lara Jean in a series of three films, is called “sweet” or “cute” – and as many as 82 percent. journalists’ opinion is positive. Viewers are less delighted – the series is recommended by 57 percent. those who rated it. Despite this, after the publication of the latest global ranking, the production will certainly be at the forefront. Will he win with “Silent Silence”, we’ll see. Certainly, however, even the second place is a disappointment for the creators, because all three parts of “To All the Boys…” were big hits.
