The actor Javier Bardem received with great emotion the Donostia award from the San Sebastián Film Festival. With a sparkle in his eyes, he told laSexta that, since he was a child, the festival has given him some of his best moments.

He is the most international Spanish actor, but some of the key moments in his career have been lived in San Sebastián. “Javier Bardem is one of the best actors in the world”, he said himself at the time. And he was not mistaken, the Zinemaldia witnessed when a very young Bardem was speechless receiving the Silver Shell. Eight years later he won the Golden Shell with ‘Los lunes al sol’.

“I’ve been going there since I started working and I have walked through those beautiful places in San Sebastián with the people I love the most in my life”, Bardem explained to laSexta. He is the sixth Spanish interpreter to receive the Donostia prize, the festival’s highest award. Yes, right after that Penelope Cruz, his wife, did it in 2019.

“It is a festival to which I owe many, many of my happiest moments, not only professional, but also personal”, has expressed, excited. The María Cristina and the Kursaal have become her second home and we will also see her there this September, even on the poster.
