Harrison Ford says goodbye to the role of the famous adventurer in Indiana Jones and the Artifact of Destiny. The production was shown in Cannes out of competition. The actor could not hide his emotion after the screening.

Harrison Ford first appeared on screen as Indiana Jones in 1981. More than 40 (!) years later, the 80-year-old, who repeatedly emphasized that no one should take over the role after him, because “Indiana Jones is me”, received a five-minute standing ovation. The acclaimed film “Indiana Jones and the Artifact of Destiny” will be released in Polish cinemas in June.

Harrison Ford was moved at Cannes

Ford in Cannes was accompanied by his wife Calista Flockhart, who sat right behind the actor in the cinema hall. Next to Ford, the video posted online also shows Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who joined the cast in the fifth part. The actor thanked for the ovation with tears of emotion in his eyes. Ford also received an honorary Palme d’Or for Lifetime Achievement that evening.

The film itself was accepted. The director and author of the script is James Mangold, and George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, who brought Indiana Jones together years ago. were among the producers. The acclaimed composer John Williams is responsible for the music again. Viewers can expect: scenes with a digitally rejuvenated Ford, because part of the film is to refer to the events of “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, which begins the film cycle.

What is Indiana Jones and the Artifact of Destiny about?

Most of the action, however, is supposed to take place in 1969, when the space race between the United States and the USSR was underway. The villain is played by Mads Mikkelsen, who proved that he is perfect for such roles, for example in “Casino Royale” – the first part with Daniel Craig as James Bond. Here he plays Voller, a character inspired by the story of Wernher von Braun – a rocket designer working for Hitler’s army, who was a co-creator of the US space program after World War II.
