The family of the Vitoria-born composer Jesús Guridi has given the Fundación Sancho el Sabio Vital a documentary collection with material that illustrates lesser-known aspects of his family and professional life.

Jesús Guridi Bidaola (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1886 – Madrid, 1961) was born at number 36 Florida Street, and left an extensive musical work belonging to a multitude of genres: instrumental, choral, opera, zarzuela, chamber music and organ, with works popularly known as ‘Mirentxu’, ‘Amaya’, ‘El Caserío’.

One of his sons, Javier Guridi, keeps part of the family documentation at his home in Sam Sebastián, which has been ceded by the Sancho el Sabio Vital Foundation, the institution chosen for its preservation and dissemination.

The documentation on Jesús Guridi contains correspondence, family and professional photographs, sheet music, diaries, brochures, postcards…

The Sancho el Sabio Vital Foundation has cataloged and described 254 references, which can be consulted on its website.
